Dr Amanda H A Watson
Dr. Amanda H A Watson is a Fellow at the Department of Pacific Affairs at the Australian National University (ANU).
Dr. Watson has published in various academic journals, including Mobile Media and Communication, Pacific Journalism Review, Media Asia, Australian Journalism Review and The Australian Journal of Emergency Management.
From January 2017 to August 2019, Dr. Watson was part of a small team of ANU academics based in Port Moresby, teaching courses in the University of Papua New Guinea’s School of Business and Public Policy under the ANU-UPNG Partnership. Before that, she worked for several years as a researcher on the use of mobile phones in development. Her PhD thesis looked at the uptake and use of mobile phones during the earliest days of mobile phone adoption in PNG. Dr. Watson has also taught at Divine Word University, Macquarie University, Queensland University of Technology and TAFE NSW.

Research Interest
Dr. Watson's research interests include digital technology in the Pacific, mobile telephones in Papua New Guinea and strategic uses of information and communication technologies in development efforts.
